Multihull 60 foot Catamaran Stars and Stripes, sail number 1, owned by Steve Fossett, has crossed the finish line at Mackinac Island at 11:50:28p.m. EDT. As a non-competing entry in an exhibition class of multihulls, Fossett's boat is not recognized as the official first to finish. The boat will also not receive the First-to-Finish award. The boat's overall lapsed time of 29:35:28 does not break the race's record lapsed time of 25:50:44 set in 1987 by Pied Piper.
